The Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences was established in the year 1995 at Sri Ramachandra University. This was the first institution in Tamil Nadu to start a degree programme in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. Over the years, the department has grown into one of the most reputed programmes in the country. Today, the university attracts best talents to pursue their higher education in the field of speech and hearing.The students always have felt a strong sense of belonging and evinced interest of being associated with the department that got us thinking of forming an association. Alumni Association was incepted on the 5th of October 2002 and henceforth this day is being celebrated as the ‘Alumni day’ each year. Sri Ramachandra Speech and Hearing Alumni Association (SRSHAA) was inaugurated by Padmashri Prof. S. Kameshwaran., Founder, Madras ENT Research Foundation.
The SRSHAA aims to bring the alumni under one forum for exchange of experience, dissemination of knowledge and talents amongst its members and students and also for the furtherance of fellowship, advancement of scientific knowledge in the general interest of the community and country.
SRSHAA is an independent, self- financed and a registered organization. The chancellor, faculty and management of Sri Ramachandra University have provided invaluable assistance and encouragement for the establishment and growth of the association.
