The department of Dermatology, Venereology, Leprosy and Dermatosurgery was started in December 1986 with a single staff member, Dr S. Anandan. It has grown over the last 2 decades to become one of the most self sufficient departments in the country with nine faculty members of rich experience. The department undertakes the teaching of undergraduates(MBBS), Postgraduates(MD, DDVL), MDS(Oral medicine), MDS ( Oral Patholgy), M.Pharm and Nursing students. The department , apart from the treatment of skin diseases, leprosy and sexually transmitted diseases undertakes the management of complex cosmetic problems like acne scars, keloids, naevi, hair fall and pigmentary disorders.
