The Department of ENT, Head and Neck Surgery was started in 1983 as part of the Undergraduate Medical education curriculum. Since then, annually about 150 students appear for the University examination in ENT. In 1996, Postgraduate courses were started imparting knowledge and skilled training to students leading to the award of Masters Degree and Diploma eventually.
The department comprises of three separate functional units, each headed by a Professor and seven other faculty members divided between them (total faculty – 10). Each unit takes care of the OPD, Inpatient and operation theatre in rotation and providing much needed, excellent patient care keeping in mind the missions goal of Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre.
The department is also equipped with state of art OPD setup; operative instruments and experienced faculty meet the needs of patients from every strata of the society.
In addition to dedicated patient care, the responsibilities of the faculty include teaching undergraduates; and postgraduates registered for diploma and degree courses. Students from the department of Nursing (Diploma, Degree and post graduate nursing), Allied health sciences, Medical and Dental post graduates are posted on rotation in this department and are exposed to theory lectures and practical skills.
