The department functions as three units, with each unit taking care of the out patient department, and operative procedures as per the fixed schedule, patients are seen on all days in the E2 out patient block of the hospital. 24 hrs Emergency care is provided by the faculty on all days.
Patients seen in the corporate clinic of the hospital are required to take prior appointment and register by paying for the services rendered. This clinic is equipped with advanced diagnostic facilities which include a separate sophisticated ENT examination and treatment unit with multiple facilities; a diagnostic video endoscopy unit with recording and demonstration facilities and otomicroscopy. Soon a media stroboscope is to be added for management of voice disorders.
Keeping in pace with the advances made in the field of otorhinolaryngology , this department is very well equipped with the experienced faculty, and an arsenal of instruments like KTP 532 laser, Zeiss sensera microscope, 3 chip camera, endoscopes, microdebrider, etc.
All ENT, Head and neck surgeries, Functional endoscopic sinus surgeries, microdebrider assisted FESS, LASER assisted surgeries, skull base surgeries, laryngotracheal reconstructive surgeries, cochlear implant surgeries etc, are performed by an experienced team of specialists. Surgeries are carried out in the state of art theatre complex of the corporate medical centre for which patients are charged on fixed nominal terms.
Such advanced surgical work is also made possible by the support services like CT scans, MRI scans ,angioimaging with embolisation techniques and also the speech and language sciences department.
Cochlear implantation: since 2005, the department has started performing cochlear implantation programme (CLIPS). So far 9 implants have been successfully carried out. In a coordinated effort with the department speech, language and hearing science, these patients undergo evaluation and rehabilitation. Thus complete care is provided under one roof.
The department is also actively involved in SMILE TRAIN PROGRAMME for patient with cleft lip and palate.
Patients are also seen in the regular outpatient block of the hospital every day on a service basis rendered free to all patients. On an average about 130 to 140 patients are seen in this service area every day. Surgery advised to them is also carried out free; except for special consumables items used during surgery. This provides an excellent setting for the postgraduates training program wherein they gain first hand experience in managing patients under supervision of the faculty.
TEMFESS WORKSHOP a unique workshop to impart a hands on training to ENT surgeon in the field of endoscopic sinus surgery and microear surgery is conducted by this department every year in addition to regular CME programmes.
The faculty members keep updating their skill with interactive sessions with the masters in the field of otorhinolaryngology through CME programme, workshops and conference, both nationally and internationally.
The ENT department is in the process of continuously upgrading itself to keep pace with the ever growing demands of patient care. It will leave no stone unturned in improving it self to keep abreast of health care standards world wide.
