Understanding fully well that anxiety levels are likely to be high among the patients and families especially when faced with uncertainties associated with unfamiliar places and people our international patient services staff is specifically trained to address this issue. Starting with multilingual capability to a natural penchant to care, every staff member will strive to make your stay comfortable.
Check list for Patients:
To ensure that your travel and stay in India is hassle free and to prevent last minute difficulties we recommend based on our wide experience the following steps before scheduling a procedure:
- If you and your physician decide that treatment at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre is appropriate, send a request for a medical service cost estimate of your anticipated treatment.
Once the procedure is scheduled, we suggest you:
- Make sure all your travel documents and medical records are in order, including: Passport, Visa and other photo identification.
- Full medical records (translated into English). Include all test reports and surgery reports treatment records, and laboratory results.
- All films (for example, X-rays, MRIs, CT scans), along with relevant reports translated into English.
- Glass pathology slides if applicable, along with the original report and a copy of the pathology report translated into English.
- Carry your medical records, films and medications with you as cabin baggage incase your luggage is lost or delayed.
- Get a stock of any medications that you must take regularly and bring them with you.

As an international patient, your care is assured from the moment you contact us about treatment at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre.
- Medical Consultations
If you are seeking a physician consultation, we suggest send your complete medical history, along with any applicable x-ray films and laboratory test results. Once a physician has reviewed your medical history, we will contact you about the recommended course of treatment and whether it is advisable to travel to India for treatment.
Thereafter we will schedule all of your physician appointments including diagnostic and laboratory tests and procedures, as well as surgical procedures as needed. Appointment availability depends on the nature and urgency of the medical situation.
- Primary and Specialty Care
Primary care and specialty out-patient care is provided by the large pool of consultants at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre consisting of a 200 strong multi-specialty physician practice group that provides comprehensive care in over 25 specialty areas.
Supported by efficient medical and paramedical staff, coordinated heath care services are provided ranging from treating patients with complex and life threatening conditions to those seeking executive physicals while here in India.
- Expenses, Procedures, Payments
You will be asked to provide information about the medical history prior to any medical treatment. After we have reviewed your medical report, we will be able to provide you with a list of items necessary for your medical care and estimated fee for the services.
You may choose to make advance financial arrangements with your embassy, referring your employers or your healthcare insurance companies.
- Travel Arrangements
We will assist you with your travel arrangements to Chennai, India including the services of a travel agent, reservations at hotel and transport from the airport.
- VISA Assistance
We will provide the necessary letters to the Indian Embassy in your country to assist you in obtaining a visa for medical treatment in India.
- Travel Agent
We have a special arrangement with a travel agent who will plan your entire travel itinerary for you, including air travel hotel accommodations, and ground transportation.
- Hotels
We recommend that you stay in a hotel in close proximity to the Medical Centre. We have arrangements with several hotels in the area to offer special rates for our international patients and their families. They range from deluxe to moderate to economy. Reasonably priced accommodation is also available within the hospital complex.
- Transportation
Chennai has an international airport with regular services of all major international and national airlines. Transportation to and from the airport / hotel will be arranged by us.
- Language Interpretation
All our doctors and nursing staff are fluent in English. In case you anticipate any language problems in communicating you may wish to take the help of a friend or a family member as an interpreter. Alternatively Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre has a well organized panel of interpreters proficient in most major foreign languages.
