The department of Paediatrics is concerned with the health of infants, children and adolescents, their growth and development and then opportunity to achieve full potential as adults. The young are often the most vulnerable in society and thus their needs require special attention. The department is chaired by Prof. Betty Chacko for the past 3 years.
The appointment of the chair and other posts is in accordance with the guidelines prepared by the Medical Council of India. The Head of department is duly assisted by 3 Professor, 2 Associate Professor and 8 Assistant Professors. The department is financed totally and exclusively by the Medical College.
Academics
The academic activities for the undergraduates, postgraduates and paramedical students are well structured and are according to the MCI guidelines.
DCH (Diploma in Child Health): A two year diploma course recognized by the Medical Council of India (8 candidates / year).
MD (Paediatric Medicine): A three year course recognized by the Medical Council of India (4 candidates / year).
