PRESS RELEASE SRI RAMACHANDRA UNIVERSITY TIES UP WITH PFIZER IN CLINICAL RESEARCH
Chennai, Sri Ramachandra University today signed an agreement with the multinational pharmaceutical company Pfizer for setting up its “Preferred Research Centre”. This centre will jointly offer training programmes in clinical research on protocol writing, advanced good clinical practices and A to Z of clinical trials; strengthen clinical trial division of SRU by developing standard operating procedures, training and accreditation; develop SRMC as the nodal centre for clinical research to offer training for others and strengthen the Centre of Toxicology and Experimental Research of SRU for pre-clinical studies for R & D projects and for getting the required accreditation of the facility. The agreement was signed here today by Dr. S.P. Thyagarajan, Director and Chief Advisor, Research, SRU and Dr. Chandrashekar Potkar, Director, Medical & Regulatory Affairs, Pfizer India Ltd in the presence of Dr.T.K.Parthasarathy, Pro Chancellor, Dr.S.Rangaswami, Vice Chancellor, Dr.K.V.Somasundaram, Dean of Faculties, Dr.S.Thanikachalam, Chairman and Director, Cardiac Care Centre and others. Under the agreement a series of training programmes have been finalized to be conducted at SRU in the next three months. Pfizer would provide Rs.35 lakhs as grant for carrying out these activities in addition to providing training materials and resource persons for the programmes. .........................................................
