Higher education including technical and medical should be spread more evenly among various regions of the country and among various strata of our society said Mr.R.A.Yadav, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) while delivering the 11th Convocation address of Sri Ramachandra University here today. India he said has some excellent educational institutions rivaling those the world over and is in the best position to provide the human capital necessary for the next stage of development. But many regions in India and some underprivileged sections of society are not covered. Also many institutions need to improve their quality substantially, he said.

Prof. Yadav stressed the need for vertical and horizontal integration of technical education to provide more mobility and flexibility for students. This calls for inter disciplinary integration, he said.

Prof. Yadav gave away gold medals to meritorious students in various disciplines.

Mr.V.R.Venkataachalam, Chancellor of SRU presented certificates to 976 graduates, post graduates, PhDs and those who qualified in sub specialties.

In his welcome address and report the Vice Chancellor Prof.S.Rangaswami said Sri Ramachandra University is poised for expansion with the proposal to start Sri Ramachandra Institute of Technology, starting of Sri Ramachandra Academy of Health Sciences off-shore campus at Mauritius, proposal to start Sri Ramachandra Sports Sciences Center in collaboration with the University of Cape Town, South Africa and with SRU getting the NAAC accreditation with Grade A and a CGPA score of 3.52 on a four point scale and the most recent accreditation of Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre by Joint Commission International of USA.
