Chennai, Urology has come to be recognised as a distinct speciality because of the vast advances in this discipline and now several sub specialties are being developed said Dr.A.Rajasekaran, Chairman, National Board of Examination while speaking at a live urology workshop at Sri Ramachandra University here today. He asked medical institutions to have simulators for intense training by yound urologists before they undertake real surgeries. He also called for integration of urology and interventional radiology to give better results to the patients. Speaking at the workshop Prof.T.K.Parthasarathy, Pro Chancellor of SRU said the advent of robotic surgery has brought about tremendous pressure on academic urology. He stressed the need for more academic freedom, research, patents and publications to improve the standards in urology.
