FREE KIDNEY MEDICAL CAMP BY SRI RAMACHANDRA HOSPITAL AT ALWARPET

 

Chennai,
10th March, 2008

 

A free medical camp for kidney related disorders is being held by Sri Ramachandra University Hospital at its City Centre in Bawa Road, Alwarpet on Thursday the 13 of this month between 9 am and 12 noon. Urine, blood and other kidney function tests will be done. People with diabetes and other symptoms like kidney stone, presence of proteins and blood in urine, children with recurring urine infection and those with family history of kidney disease can have consultations. Those who donated their kidney anywhere may also seek advice.


There will be an exhibition of renal disease and renal diet along with question and answer sessions by a team of nephrologists headed by Dr.P.Soundararajan, Professor and HOD. The emphasis is on early detection and appropriate prevention measures to prevent permanent kidney failure.


The second Thursday of every March is observed as World Kidney Day. In India, about one lakh new people suffer from end stage kidney failure, warranting lifelong dialysis or transplant.
