KIDNEY MEDICAL CAMP RINGS EARLY WARNING FOR SOME

13th March, 2008

 

It was an early warning of sorts for some people who underwent kidney function tests at a special medical camp organized by SRMC hospital, at its City Centre in Bawa Road, Alwarpet today held to mark the World Kidney Day. Of the 180 people screened one had kidney failure, ten people had kidney injuries and one was found having kidney stone. Four people learnt for the first time that they had BP and five diabetes. Apart from advice on follow up treatment, they were given information on personal hygiene, eating and other habits and general upkeep.


There was a mini exhibition and question and answer session with patients on kidney related diseases. A team of nephrologists and urologists headed by Prof.P.Soundararajan, HOD, Nephrology, Sri Ramachandra University examined and interacted with the patients.


The camp was formally inaugurated by Mr. M. Rajendran, Managing Director of Raj TV in the presence of Mr.V.R.Venkataachalam, Chancellor, Prof.S.Rangaswami, Vice Chancellor and Prof.K.V.Somasundaram, Dean of Faculties of Sri Ramachandra University.


The students of nearby Alwarpet Corporation School were also given awareness information on keeping the kidney and our health in good condition.
