Prof. C.Bhasker Rao, Vice President, Dental Council of India inaugurated the dedicated oral and maxillofacial surgical operation theatre complex at Sri Ramachandra Dental College here today and said such facilities should help train dental surgeons all over the country. The rapid review course in oral and maxillofacial surgery, the first ever in the country organized here should give an updated perspective in the field to hundreds of young post graduates, he said. If fellowship programmes are brought before the council he would be too happy to get them approved he said.


Inaugurating the CME programme, Mr.Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj of the Tamilnadu Government said dentists and dental surgeons should dispel the popular belief that dental is an elitist treatment and bring it within the reach of the common man and people in rural and remote areas.


Prof. Kishore Nayak, President, Association of oral and maxillofacial surgeons of India said the young postgraduates face the dilemma of choosing a particular speciality in this field.


Prof.K.V.Somasundaram, Dean of faculties, SRU speaking on the occasion said the four day course will benefit over 200 delegates from all over the country get the latest knowledge in this field. Dr.Suresh, Principal, Ramachandra Dental college said the state of the art theater complex inaugurated today and the associated research facilities available at SRU will make it one of the best in the world. Prof. Ram Kumar, Course Director said there will be four simulated clinical sessions on facial trauma, oral cancer, cosmetic facial surgery and oral implantology.
